Yamamoto and Adidas Y-3 have created a capsule collection adorned with the Union Jack design, with a hint towards to official Team GB kit designed by the amazing British designer Stella McCartney which also uses the iconic Union Jack reconstructed as a punchy graphic print. Established member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Los Angeles based J C Obando began his career as creative director of advertising powerhouses. Whilst creating innovating and emotional campaigns for successful brands such as BMW, Coca Cola, Walt Disney Co., he was also teaching himself how to construct garments, by deconstructing vintage pieces and putting them back together again. Through this he learnt the importance of attention to detail and the understanding of the full value of precise craftsmanship, which has led to some beautiful creations by the designer.

The luxurious collection for Atelier Swarovski for Spring Summer 2012 takes inspiration from the carabina shapes found in industrial climbing equipment. J C Obando says he was “inspired by portraits by Helmut Newton in California circa 1970, a series that showcased hedonistic amalgamation of lavish indulgence with effortless sophistication”. Combining this design with the innovative Swarovski technique of setting crystals into ceramic and high polish metal finishes, the collection of chain link accessories are exquisitely feminine and exude luxury.

Yohji Turns Director
YOHJI YAMAMOTO is following in the footsteps of Tom Ford and creating his first feature film. The designer, who will direct the project, has already commissioned a scriptwriter and plans to have the film completed in the next two years.
“It’s very secret,” he said during a talk at Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography last weekend.
Although Yamamoto appeared as the subject of fashion documentary This Is My Dream, which was released last year, his directorial debut will not focus on himself. The designer also added that he doesn’t like creating film costumes.
“I don’t want to kill the characters of the actors and actresses with my ego,” Yamamoto told WWD. “[Costume designers] have to know which fashions and which trends were running at which time, so their knowledge of past clothing is sometimes better than ours.”

For the SS12 season Hervia Bazaar has bought into this seasons must have BFC ELLE  Talent Launch Pad Winner designer, Saloni.  Born and raised in India, London-based designer Saloni Lodha is known for her collection of womenswear that features handcrafted details atop original prints and patterns. Lodha studied graphic design, print, and textiles in India before relocating to Hong Kong, where she held trunk shows and pop-up shops showcasing custom dresses she created in collaboration with emerging designers. In 2004, Saloni enrolled at Central Saint Martins in London. Prior to launching her eponymous line in 2008, she honed her skills at Issa. Graceful, playful and girly, her dresses and accessories make a feminine addition to store in Manchester City Centre. Almost everything about the collection was more tranquil and fluid the palette remained in neutral tones from white to shades of grey and metallic silver with the odd inky blue dropped in for good measure. This calmer feeling was followed up with silhouettes of draping, trailing fabrics and soft silk yet structured dresses.

This all said and done Todd’s signature design aesthetic was still obvious to see…to sum it up it is a tailored and structured tranquility that Todd Lynn has offered up this season.
