Young British fashion designer Gareth Pugh has in recent years established himself as one of the World's most creative and exciting new designers. Since graduating in 2003 from St Martins in London, Gareth Pugh has gone on to great things, receiving global recognition for his outlandish clubwear and his novel approach to redefining modern luxury.
The radical geometries of Gareth Pugh's monochromatic designs are like armory for futuristic night fighters. His designs are inspired by shape, proportion and process. Although associated to the Rick Owens group and quite macabre, Gareth emanates more of a sense of adventure and the essence of British fashion.
In his Autumn/Winter 2013 collection he found inspiration from the Asgarda, a Ukrainian tribe of female warriors. The Asgarda tribe, from the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine, follows an educational regime of martial arts, Grecian wisdom, sciences and arts. The collection mirrors the warrior shapes worn by the Asgarda and references their cut-off sleeves, flared hemlines and monochrome colour palette.
