British label Inside Out is the well known trompe l’oeil brand created by born and bred British designers James Woolfin and Yvette White. After meeting at the prestigious British College of Art and Design, Central Saint Martins, James and Yvette discovered a mutual love for designing clothing and how unique and thought provoking it could be. They channelled this passion and soon became a sought-after, creative duo, renowned for their unique ‘art couture’ trompe l’oeil designs.
Trompe d’oeil is an interesting and exciting art effect designers employ to add a surrealist edge to their pieces, using extremely detailed and realistic imagery to create an optical illusion that the depicted objects actually appear in three dimensions. Young British brand Inside Out have made this thought provoking design feature their signature style digital prints, surreal shapes & deconstructed details that 'fool the eye', each of their garments is a wearable work of art. In their collections they use images of vintage pieces, painstakingly assembled in the studio, before being photographed and digitally printed on to luxurious silk fabrics, jersey, chiffon and crepe de chine. Each Inside Out garment, season after season, manages to blend perfectly the boundaries between high art and fashion, continually challenging design.
This season the quintessentially British brand also presents its latest collaboration – a unique range of printed shoes, developed in association with UK shoe experts, London Trading. The brand-new printed shoe collection includes sneakers, high-tops and luxurious handmade leather shoes incorportating the brands signature trompe l’oeil designs, a triumph in technology and design. James and Yvette have worked closely with the UK production team of London Trading, being involved at every stage, to create something completely unique and original. So, as a result, the new additions to the exciting Inside Out collection are a high-end, hand-finished, concept shoe, where cutting edge design, top quality materials and exceptional digital print are all brought together in perfect synthesis to deliver fans a treat that will exceed all expectations!
Yvette White of Inside Out says about the new partnership:
"Our label is all about celebrating English style, English eccentricity and British manufacturing with a surreal twist, and we had always wanted to develop a footwear collection along these lines. It has taken a lot of fine-tuning to achieve what we wanted, but we're really proud of the results."
