Comme Des Garcons Homme Plus the main mens line from Comme De Garcons has been established since 1984. The line’s use of black and distressed fabric during a period of colour and bouyancy made a major stir in the industry and the line continued to produce clothing that was largely monochromatic and asymmetrical throughout the 1980s, despite the dominant trends of the decade.  Since its inception, Comme des Garcons has regularly been known for its unwillingness to go with the norm.
 
The theme of Rei Kawakubo's Comme Des Garcons Homme Plus Spring Summer 2012 Collection is 'tailoring for punks' a theme that could almost be given to much of her earliest work with Comme Des Garcons. A collection of perfectly tailored pieces featuring classic fabrics such as pinstripe and houndstooth echoing the Edwardian era but the cut contrasted this with biker zips or slashes that revealing an inner jacket.
