Belgian designer Ann Demeulemeester's SS11 collection was a step away from her usual floaty, layered aesthetic. This season both men's and women's collections took on a structural edge with inspiration for the collection falling somewhere between film noir and sci-fi. The SS11 pieces had a protective element to them; knitwear, T-Shirts, jackets, dresses and everything in between featured breast plates, buckles, funnel necks and straps, all cocooning the body in defensive fabrics.
