The late, French-born Pierre Balmain, best known for his sophisticated dressmaking, represented a certain idea of elegance and a clientele over-flowing with queens, princesses and starlets. Nowadays, Christophe Decarnin has taken over the reins of women's design at Balmain, and his new Spring/Summer 2012 Collection represents some of Balmain's original elegance and character. The collection consists of ruched dresses, pleated skirts and simple tops, all of which showcase some of Balmain's original construction techniques.
