Dsquared2 SS20

21 Jan 2020

The glossy red lacquered runway set the scene for Dsquared2's Spring/Summer 20 show, a homage to the LA Chinese Theatre and a time when Kung Fu movies were at their peak in the 1970s. Eastern culture was a throughline of the entire collection showcase and when Designers, Dean and Dan Caten were asked about the Chinese themes, they told Vogue: “Because it’s sexy! And there’s something rich about it”.

Eastern-inspired motifs such as animal prints, vibrant floral patterns and bold embroidered tigers all emblazoned the latest Dsquared2 pieces. The opulence of the collection was shown in the use of materials; silk and wool were used prominently in the form of light summer shirts and tailored trousers. Dsquared2 manages to strike a perfect balance between Eastern and Western influences all filtered through the nostalgic lens of 70s cinema
