Eastpack X NEIGHBORHOOD

With military roots and nearly seventy years of history behind them, Eastpack is unmatched when it comes to bags. Shinsuke Takizawa, the founder of Japanese premium label NEIGHBORHOOD, was aware of this when he approached Eastpak to collaborate. Takizawa said “Eastpak is recognized to be an iconic brand in its category. So when NEIGHBORHOOD wanted to add its creative touch in the product, it became a natural fit. We also have some similar roots/points of reference, such as a link to military heritage.”

Shinsuke Takizawa envisioned a collection infusing urbanism and utility, drawing from military and police aesthetics juxtaposed with punk-rock references. The Eastpak X NEIGHBORHOOD collection is made up of four styles,  two new street-ready designs in the form of vestbags and reworks of classic backpacks and shoulder bags in black and olive colourways.

The range of military-inspired bags are familiar designs aside from a new style of wearable vestbags. Featuring two zip-fastening front compartments and two Velcro back pockets at the chest invoke militaria designs while a reflective stripe and co-branded taping finish off the design. Embroidered on the back of every piece of the collection is the words 'The Filth and the Fury". A reference to a phrase commonly used by newspapers to describe punk rock culture that emerged in the 70s, an era of major inspiration for Takizawa.

The Eastpak X NEIGHBORHOOD Collection is now available!
