Gosha Rubchinskiy SS18: Collaboration with Adidas & Burberry

16 Jan 2018

Gosha Rubchinskiy’s latest offering for Spring Summer 2018, is a union of cultural references and their defined aesthetics, to create a colourful and boundary pushing collection.

The collection showcases collaborative pieces from the likes of Burberry, Adidas, Milliner Stephen Jones, and eyewear label Retrosuperfuture.

An ordered mish mash of shapes stormed the runway, from floaty silhouettes, oversized bottoms and loose fitting jerseys, to more tailored layers. The general mood was a rave inspired fusion of nightlife and football culture.

Keeping 90’s revival well and truly alive, models were nostalgically draped in vibrant neon colourways and vintage sportswear, with updated tech twists from Adidas.

The collection takes inspiration from the city of Saint Petersburg, Russia’s former capital. The city brought football culture to Russia, around the 19th century through the British stationed there at that time. In 1989, the fall of the Berlin Wall brought Germany’s vibrant electronic music scene into Russia, anchoring the city as a place for ravers and party people, with a booming nightlife scene.

The influx of culture around this time brought colour, creativity and chaos to the city. Gosha captures and reignites this sense of pride and adrenaline, fused into one memorable drop.

Gosha relooks at famous Burberry pieces, such as the trench coat and Harrington jacket, putting new interpretations on classic shapes. The pieces seamlessly blend into the rest of the collection, partly due to their unwavering place as iconic fashion staples, and partly from youth street culture adopting the label's iconic print as their armour.
