Brazilian footwear brand Ipanema has once again partnered with renowned French designer & architect Philippe Starck for the third instalment of their continuous collaboration.

The Spring Summer 2018 offering sees sandals in new shapes and unisex models, utilising simple ergonomic elements with sleek, minimal design.

Made in Brazil, the capsule collection of sandals is presented in a clean palette of monochrome and citrus tones. Built from water resistant PVC, the sandals are ideal for practical holiday wear, with superior comfort at the forefront of the design process. The sandals are constructed as flip flop style thong sandals, with criss cross or Y-shaped straps, some options feature a back support to the heel.

The environmentally conscious range blends a 'less is more' approach to design, harnessing sustainable materials that are 100% recyclable. The collection boasts a completely vegan production process, with no animal products involved in the design, development or manufacture. Developed with 100% recyclable materials, 30% of the material content is sourced from recycled materials. With an artisanal flair, the straps are handcrafted from one single piece of PVC, applied delicately to create a streamlined, fuss free silhouette that contours the foot with ease.

With an extensive background spanning interiors, product, industrial and architecture, Philippe Starck is quite the design prowess. Starck's creative vision for the collection took a 'bionic approach,' learning from the movements of the body, designing in harmony with human nature to achieve technical perfection. With a formulation softer than previous designs, the soles employ the use of rounded edges and clean, pared back design. Starck's intention was to use the least amount of materials possible, blurring the lines between the footwear and the body, which he achieves through fluid contouring.
