JW Anderson Fall-Winter 20 Menswear

07 Jul 2020

This season, Jonathan Anderson's exploration of David Wojnarowicz, was at the forefront of his FW20 menswear collection. Wojnarowicz was a polarising artist and activist who documented the AIDS epidemic in America during the 80s and 90s. Wojnarowicz's presence was felt throughout the show in the form of his burning house stencils used to embellish sweatshirts worn by mannequins in the background of the runway.

On the catwalk, beautiful long coats took centre stage. Anderson spoke about his design approach for this season, and how reducing a product down and building upon a core design to create multiple iterations. "It was looking at how you do a product that is substantial,’ he explained. “Instead of 15 coats, do one coat in multiple things and develop it so that it feels like it’s always been there.”

Luxe knitted sweatshirts, boldly printed t-shirts, immaculate shirting and sturdy denim all in muted autumnal tones of black, beige and brown, all makes or an exquisite showing from JW Anderson this season.
