Kuboraum Eyewear: Dreamed in Berlin, Handmade in Italy

25 Apr 2018

Kuboraum; The unisex eyewear brand was conceived in 2012, in a former post office on the borders of East and West Berlin. Today the rooms house the studio, showroom and flagship store for the brand. Multi faceted creatives and directors Livio Graziottin and Sergio Eusebi bring the brands vision and magic to life within these walls. The eyewear is then crafted in Italy, harnessing traditional Italian artisanal practices.

The brand's ethos is to 'enhance not mask' through revolutionary pieces of eyewear. To truly appreciate this concept, perhaps we need to reframe our approach to sunglasses. Think of the glasses as facial architecture: framing and emphasising our facial features rather than disguising. Instead of hiding behind sunglasses, instead we wear them to draw attention to our features, flattering the unique characteristics that make us who we are. Kuboraum refer to their eyewear as 'masks', which brings images of superheroes to mind. It is certainly an intriguing idea, that our holiday eyewear can possess superhero like qualities.

You may wonder how the brand achieves this ambitious creative vision. Kuboraum eyewear possesses a natural fluidity; through the transformation of self, the wearer will exude a powerful confidence. There is a certain freedom that comes from proudly declaring your features and reclaiming your identity. Shifting the focus from typical brand mentality, Kuboraum instead creates a narrative of freedom through the true expression of personality. There are no garish logos plastered across the glasses. They are instead artfully crafted with great care and attention to detail, using the finest materials. Softly tinted lenses are set against double wired frames. Classic shapes are reimagined in oversized proportions, or with hammered detailing.

Describing their unisex eyewear as “cubic rooms where we are free to live all our identities” Kuboraum playfully walks the line between fantasy and reality. We don't know about you, but we are convinced.
