MM6 Maison Margiela SS18

MM6 Maison Margiela SS18 show filled 17 Floral Street venue, with models spilling across the space, mingling with the audience to break down the usual barriers, all this to a blaring soundtrack of vintage pop.

With models sporting a vast array of looks, all stamped cohesively with the labels expected air of edginess, the result was punchy and effortless simultaneously. Utilising the labels usual mix of jersey and denim, the collection resourcefully adapted fabrics from the Margiela mainline or previous seasons.

The collection played heavily with layering, MM6s usual repurposing of fabrics, with off cuts of denim fashioned into oversize patchwork pieces. The hotchpotch of material resulted in a surprisingly seamless arrangement, with interesting silhouettes that as a collection, achieved a satisfying balance.

Sweat jersey in relaxed fit was styled with crackled leather biker pants, and pointed canvas boots in white.White denim was seen in abundance, printed with sketchy scribbled drawings, unravelling across the garment. An oversized blouse showcased a scribbled print. A PVC bag was reworked into a top, with detachable white denim jacket sleeves and oversize drawstring jeans paired with flare heeled slide sandals, in white canvas.
