New to Hervia: Li-Ning

 Launched in 1990 by Chinese Olympic Gymnast Li-Ning, the Chinese sportswear brand has made a name for itself for producing performance clothing for athletes. Since bringing on brand consultant, Liad Krispin—a former adidas exec who oversaw collaborations with Yohji Yamamoto, Raf Simons and Kanye West—Li-Ning has found a following among the style and streetwear cognoscenti.

While the focus is still to produce high-performance athletic attire, in 2018 Li-Ning put on a well-received show at New York Fashion Week debuting its premium collection. This year, Li-Ning debuted its FW19 collection which fully embraced the brand's Chinese heritage through the use of national flags, symbols, and colour schemes. 

Krispin explained "This season’s elevated offering views contemporary life as experienced within three worlds—the city, the country, and the journey between the two. These three chapters serve as the structure for the collection, and each is expressed through distinct silhouettes, graphics, and fabrications, which are often weather-resistant. A directional colour palette veers from muted earth tones to searing fluorescents."
