New To Hervia: Marques' Almeida
Since launching in 2011, Marques' Almeida has been credited for reinventing denim with iconic frayed-edge designs which have now been emulated countless times all over the world.
The designers behind the brand, Marta Marques & Paulo Almeida, met whilst studying at CITEX fashion school. Following their graduation, they both moved to London to start an internship at Vivienne Westwood. Whilst in London, the designers also studied for a Masters in Fashion at Central Saint Martins School of Arts, studying under the renowned Louise Wilson, who taught Alexander Mcqueen and Christopher Kane.
Shortly after graduating, in April 2011 the designers launched Marques' Almeida and received multiple awards including Emerging Designer at the British Fashion Council Awards and the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. In addition to this, the brand has also been featured in British Vogue, Elle UK, Vogue Paris and Dazed & Confused.
The latest FW19 collection focuses on alternative cuts and fabric pairings, including asymmetrical dresses and puffa jackets, the iconic frayed denim and textured knitwear.
