Raf Simons Spring Summer 2020

07 Apr 2020

For Raf Simons SS20 collection the theme of rebellion and youth take centre stage again, but this time there is a strong focus on Trumpian corporate America and Simons’ newfound disdain for it.

Slogans like “STONE(E)D AMERICA” were showcased across garments throughout the show held in Paris, whilst  all played out to the eerie Under the Skin motion picture soundtrack. It seems Simons' two years working for Calvin Klein had ended his love affair with America and replaced with hatred that he used for inspiration for this collection.

His time in America has seemingly brought a newfound appreciation for his homeland with motifs such as "MY OWN PRIVATE ANTWERP", replacing "Idaho" with Antwerp, a homage to his hometown. The Raf Simons staples remain this season, oversized jackets featuring patchwork appliques, oversized graphic tees, immaculate overshirts and the 10th collaboration with Eastpak that brings us a luxe assortment of backpacks and bags that combines Raf's visionary approach to fashion design with the classic Eastpak Padded Pak'r silhouette.
