Rick Owens SS17 Pre Collection

29 Nov 2016

Rick Owens' Pre-Spring/Summer 2017 collection is arriving imminently at Hervia, so we have delved into the thinking behind Owen's latest brainchild. The collection, entitled 'Walrus', is a working evolution from this seasons Autumn/Winter 'Mastodon' collection. As Mastodon was a reflection of how in the current fast fashion industry true art may have become extinct, Walrus was a beast of change. The free flowing fabric draped over the mannequin-like models perfectly captured the constantly moving, changing and evolving both in fashion and in Rick Owens' style. Finding hope and freedom in the idea of a changing industry for which he so opposed to, Owen's  found freedom in the fabric itself: Slim cut tops were contrasted with draped, oversized trousers with no care of a faux pas in sight. Neil Young's environmental disaster song, “After the Gold Rush”, played during the show which was fitting as dashes of yellow and sparkle symbolised the glimmers of change Owens sees in fashion. Expect an array of colours usually associated with Jeremy Scott rather than Rick Owens; luscious red's, vivid yellows feature heavily. Owens has also updated both his iconic leather jacket for Spring and his utilitarian footwear. The Spring Summer collection is due to arrive soon so keep an eye out on Hervia.com for the collection.
