At this year's Paris Fashion week, partners Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas unveiled the Y-3 Spring Summer 2019 collection in the Parisian Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Uniting sport with ultimate high fashion, the brands' remain a pioneer of athleisure. The collection aligned Yohji Yamamoto’s ongoing pursuit of “air between the body” with Adidas’s expertise in innovative materials. Combining high-tech performance fabrics like Gore-Tex and engineered mesh with lightweight flowing fabrics, the models floated dramatically down the runway.
The iconic three-stripe motif is present throughout the collection. Adding a spin on the classic Y-3 logo, printed skulls which are said to represent an altered rendition of Yohji Yamamoto's face along with a heart motif have been incorporated into the designs. The favoured colour palette was dominated by monochromatic hues with flashes of vivid red and pale grey.
Pushing the limits of innovation, Yohji's expertise in both garment development and pattern cutting aided in the creation of a powerful SS19 collection.
