Croatian-born designer Damir Doma grew up in Germany, where he studied fashion in Munich and in Berlin. He trained under Raf Simons before striking out on his own, launching his first menswear collection for Spring Summer 2008, following this with his debut womenswear collection in 2010. Damir Doma has gone on to carve out a strong and recognizable style of masculine avant-garde silhouettes.
For AW13 Doma is celebrating five years of showcasing his collections in Paris. A self confessed experimentalist, the latest offering harks back to his Eastern European roots, taking inspiration from retro ski wear with a nod to the minimalism of the 90s. There was a delicate balance of textures between the nylon tracksuits reminiscent of his time growing up, with the more sophisticated heritage fabrics creating a collection full of depth. Muddy muted tones were balanced by relaxed, sport inspired cuts. Weatherproof windbreakers, geometric lines and boxy cuts were reworked to create a versatile collection appropriate for the every day life of the modern man.
