Lou Dalton

Lou Dalton is one of the rare female designers on the British menswear scenery; she quickly became symbol of the “home-grown” talents at London Collections Men.

She has a natural and complete understanding of what men look for in their clothing pieces: functionality, a dash of newness and, mainly, appeal.

The designer’s motto is: “Charm, Charm, Charm”.

Dalton’s collections are usually inspired by the men in her life: her father and her partner, the cyclist Justin Haigh; another strong source of inspirations are her Shropshire roots: her collections are always based on wearable menswear authenticity.

Her further influences are the most varied and intriguing: from caravan-dwelling farmhands to the Apollo missions, to Taxi Driver, to Texas oil barons

Every single item is perfectly cut with the skilled hand of the experienced designer. Dalton’s bright talent suddenly made her one of the most in-demand designers in the contemporary fashion industry.

Silhouettes for the AW 16 are slouched and unfussy, with baggy trousers and soft-shouldered, rich flannel outwear. There is a kind of understated beauty to low-key blousons in cleverly chosen fabrics and classic blazers that were tweaked slightly dropped shoulders and a cropped length. Reminding to the legend of low-key British menswear Margaret Howell, the colours are warm camels and deep green blended together with black.
